The UC Davis FFA Field Day is the largest, and oldest, FFA field day in the entire state of California. On March 3rd, nearly 30 members of the Buhach Colony FFA Chapter attended this event, competing in various contests. Members of the livestock judging team, Mackenzie Paschall, Faith Rouse, Brittany Perry, Abigail Douglas, Gauge McMullen, Tanner Torell, Mark Graham, Catalina Farington, and Shayla Silva, competed and proved to be excellent competition for the other schools in attendance. They placed 3rd in beef, 5th in sheep, goats, and reasons, and the brought in an overall 7th place finish! Additionally, Abigail Douglas placed 2nd high individual in reasons. A couple of the freshmen from our chapter, Emma Garcia, Emily Serrata, McClain Oh, Darilyn Caranza, and Ashlyn Wielant, competed in the Best Informed Competition. Also, Ms. Garcia and Ms. Serrata competed in the Creed Speaking Competition. In addition, the small engines team had a competition and had a great time. The next competition was Farm Records. This was the first competition of the year for this team, and members Jacob Dutra, Bailey Malone, Morgan Malone, and Angelina Ybarra definitely represented. They placed 3rd high team in the Farmer’s Tax test and the AET Manual test, Bailey Malone placed 5th high individual in the AET Manual test, Morgan Malone placed 5th high individual in the Farmer’s Tax Guide test and the Scenario portion and 4th high individual overall, and the team placed 6th high overall! Lastly, the Dairy Judging team also competed at Davis, and they did exceptionally well. The team members who competed were Shelby Rolfe, Macie Harmon, Alexis Machado, and Nichelle Lawler. They placed 2nd overall, Macie placed 3rd overall, and they also placed in the top five in every subcategory of the contest, which include milking cows, heifers, reasons, and pedigree! We are very proud of every person who competed in the competition and we are all looking forward to the next field day!
